Does Vermont require state 1099 tax filing?

Yes. In addition to joint state and federal filing, Vermont requires 1099s to include the Vermont tax account number in position (663-772) of the B record. You’re only required to file separately from the combined and federal program for 1099s reporting backup withholding. In the case of withholding, you need to also file form WH-434.
